Mr. Ray W. Flanders, 83, of Oxford, died Tuesday, Feb. 10 at his home.
He was the widower of Beatrice (Steeves) Flanders. Mr. Flanders was born July 5, 1925, in East Candia, N.H.,
son of the late Ray W. and Bonnie L. Flanders. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving on LSM 237
in the Philippines. He was a carpentry general superintendent for Tomlinson & Hawley, Vice President of
H. Wales Lines and project manager of G. Carpenter Co. He was a charter member of the GAC
Carpenters & Millwright Apprenticeship Committee and enjoyed collecting stamps and model trains.
He also enjoyed his cars. He was associated with AFLAC and traveled on many of its excursions.
Formerly of Mitchell, S.D., East Candia, N.H. and Fairfield, he was a longtime Oxford resident.
He leaves his daughter, Lynne Flanders of Waterbury, and several nieces and nephews.
Services are private. Arrangements by Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main St. South, Southbury.
